Launch into the deep
I started designing handbags three years ago after 10 years of designing womens clothing for other companies. It was really a chance to fulfill my design fix! I've got a major love for fabrics and handcrafted paper. So with my designing skills, a few tubs full of fabrics with rich colors, unique designs, and lots of texture, I launched GRAND! The name Grand came to me one afternoon after coming home from a business plan workshop I attended here in Seattle. I was told that if I wanted this collection of handbags to stand on its own and get recognized (Build it and they will shop) I would need to give it a name that exemplifies what the style is all about. At the time, I just added this collection to the other fantastic products I design under my business nameSoulPrint Productions. At first I was dead set against giving it another name...SoulPrint is pretty snazzy! But deep down I knew it was for the best.

A GRAND idea to a GRAND DESIGN
When I put fabrics and designs together, I think about the great women who've purchased handbags from me already and envision the woman who would purchase a bag. She's a woman who likes to get noticed. She doesn't need to have everything designer in her wardrobe in fact she's got her own seamstress to sew up an outfit or two if she's unable to find it in the stores. She rarely shops in the major department store unless she's looking for a classic piece of clothing and she's known by name at the local boutiques.
